The Shuffleboard Federation was founded in 1987 by John McDermott, and has been owned and operated by him since that time. For thirty straight years, John was ranked among the top ten players in the world. That experience helped him gain unique insights which have proved valuable in helping our customers pick the perfect Shuffleboard Table for their lifestyle and budget. He has developed dozens of products for the shuffleboard industry and his knowledge in terms of both Shuffleboard Tables and accessory products is unsurpassed. He is also the tournament director of Table Shuffleboard's Premier Event, the North American Shuffleboard Championships, a position he has held since he founding the tournament in 1990. In 2004, John's many accomplishments were officially recognized as he was inducted into the Table Shuffleboard Hall of Fame as both a player and promoter of the game.
Prior to founding the company, John ran multiple leagues, and more than a hundred shuffleboard tournaments. The experience gained as a Tournament Director in those formative years culminated in the founding of Table Shuffleboard's Premier Event, the North American Shuffleboard Championships, in 1990. In the ensuing years, the NASC has become known as shuffleboard's "family reunion." Players from across the United States and Canada gather every year at Reno's fabulous J Resort for ten days of Friendship Through Competition. The NASC includes 13 events in four divisions, which include the pro division and three different amateur divisions, making it an event for competitive players of all skill levels. Players of all ability levels have benefited from watching videos of best players in the game competing at the NASC, with commentary done by shuffleboard's top players. That video library includes incredible insights into the strategic intricacies of the game.
